Tales of the New Hassidim: Part 1

Rabbi Arthur Waskow discusses the relationship among Torah, the natural world, and action for social justice, in telling of his encounter with Rev. Charles Sherrod. Sherrod was the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee's organizer in Albany, Georgia in the early 1960s, and has been in the news recently because of the controversy surrounding right-wing smears against his wife, longtime USDA worker Shirley Sherrod.

This is the first in the video series "Tales of the New Hassidim," Rabbi Arthur's own story-telling of moments he lived through, alongside others, in shaping the movement to renew Judaism as an instrument to heal the heart and the world.
