On Yom Kippur 5776 (September 22-23, 2015), The Shalom Center sponsored a Yom Kippur service at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The service included the following unique haftarah -- a weaving of prophetic outcries, old and new -- woven by Kohenet Shoshana Bricklin.  The service and this haftarah honored and affirmed Pope Francis' call in the encyclical Laudato Si for swift and  vigorous action to heal Earth from the burning of fossil fuels and other wounds imposed by the wildly imbalanced social system of enormous wealth and power on the one hand and deep poverty on the other. This unique Yom Kippur service honored the Pope 's visit to the US, the day before he spoke to the US Congress.
