A Climate-Crisis Letter from The Shalom Center & 149 other Organizations

Out of 150 signers, The Shalom Center was the only national Jewish organization that signed a strong letter to President Obama as the Paris international conference on the climate crisis opened. Our letter praised some important steps he has taken to  protect and heal the Earth and human civilizaton from the  climate-rooted dangers that are already afflicting us. -- And we strongly urged him to take additional steps, and quickly, to prevent climate chaos.

In addition, Interfaith Moral Action on Climate (IMAC) was the only interfaith organization to sign. Rabbi Mordechai Liebling, a member of the Board of The Shalom Center, and i are members of the steering committee of IMAC.

This letter to the President is, of course, only the tip of the iceberg of the work we have been doing to inspire, inform, move, and embody action on this most important issue. I should add that though I am proud of the work The Shalom Center and IMAC have been doing, I am sad that there are not dozens of Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, and interfaith organizations that have signed this letter.

Shalom, salaam, peace, Earth! --
